Boogaloo Gigs!

We hold regular Blues & Boogie gigs in the Cellar Bar at Farnham Maltings. The Maltings is a historic building with a great atmosphere. There's plenty of parking as well as a train station close by, which helps if you like to have a drink!  The Maltings is easy to find - just click on the venue name in the column to the right to view a map.

Doors open 8.15 pm with blues sounds from DJ Chris and the band starts at 9.00 pm unless otherwise stated.  Ticket prices range from £8-£12 and there are price concessions for members, students & UB40s.  For details of membership visit the membership page.

Known as ‘The Voice’ Nicky Moore is without doubt one of the very best blues singers on the music scene today, delivering spine-tingling ballads and hard-rocking numbers equally well…   His superb line-up is Timmy Moore and Danny Kyle on guitars, and Pete Shaw on bass.  An all-rocking band!

BIG BOY BLOATER & HIS BAND - £10 (Conc. £9)

For 15 years Big Boy Bloater's energetic blend of Boogie Woogie, Jump Blues and Rock & Roll has thrilled audiences far and wide.  His six piece band boasts savage guitar, honking saxes and a rhythm section like an express train.  Big Boy Bloater's blues shouter voice has been compared to the likes of Howlin' Wolf, Big Joe Turner and Fats Domino and his wild guitar style is heavily influenced by the early sounds of Ike Turner, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, Mickey Baker and BB King.  Bloater has recorded two sessions for the Paul Jones R&B show on Radio 2 and has recorded two sessions and been interviewed by Mark Lamarr for his late night Radio 2 show 'God's Jukebox' (Nov 06 and Dec 08).  Most recently the instrumental track 'Whammy!' from the latest CD has been featured on the in-flight entertainment for all BA Transatlantic flights as part of their 'best of 2008' programming.

Raunchy blues singer Connie Lush delivers a powerful mix of bare knuckle R&B, soul anthems and blues ballads together with her fabulous band.  Connie is in the British Blues Connection ‘Hall of Fame’ as best female blues vocalist and has also won the French Blues Trophies award as European Singer of the Year.   Sensational!

OO-BOP-SH’BAM - £10 (Conc. £9)

Oo-Bop-Sh'Bam play classic boogie-woogie and rhythm ‘n’ blues, taking their influences from the small combos of the 40’s and 50’s, where swinging and singing ruled the day!   The band recreates the feel of the Rent Parties and City night clubs of that era, led by Jackson Sloane (ex Rent Party) on vocals.

Bob Hokum’s  7-piece Guv’nors  have a unique take on the blues, displaying influences from classic funk and Latin grooves to be the ‘funkiest blues band in the land’.    Plus  Blues sans Frontiers, with Sam Kelly on percussion, Bob Hokum on guitar/vocals and Keith Waithe on flute.  An intriguing fusion of world music and blues.   Doors open 8.00 pm for an 8.30 pm start.
