Boogaloo Gigs!

We hold regular Blues & Boogie gigs in the Cellar Bar at Farnham Maltings. The Maltings is a historic building with a great atmosphere. There's plenty of parking as well as a train station close by, which helps if you like to have a drink!  The Maltings is easy to find - just click on the venue name in the column to the right to view a map.

Doors open 8.15 pm with blues sounds from DJ Chris and the band starts at 9.00 pm unless otherwise stated.  Ticket prices range from £8-£12 and there are price concessions for members, students & UB40s.  For details of membership visit the membership page.

Thursday 9 September
THE JOHN OTWAY BIG BAND £12 (Conc. £11)

A brilliant night of music and lunacy with the one and only ‘Man with Two Hits’ Jon Otway (‘Cor Baby I’m Really Free’ and more recently ‘Bunsen Burner’).   Tonight John will front his ‘Big Band’.

Thursday 16 September

CHUCK FARLEY BAND - £9 (Conc. £8)

Led by founder member, guitarist/vocalist and multi instrumentalist Steve Simpson, Chuck Farley doubled as Roger Chapman's band The Shortlist. They toured Europe extensively with Chappo and the core of the band recorded several albums.    Chuck Farley built a strong following in the UK with their Country Rock and r&b feel, best summed up as Little Feat meets Ry Cooder.
The line-up is Steve Simpson gtr/fiddle/vox, Poli Palmer vibes/keys,
Pete Stroud bass and Sam Kelly drums.  One helluva band!  (Chuck Farley are replacing The Monday Band as Papa George is not available for this date.)

IAN PARKER ‘UP CLOSE AND INTIMATE’ - £10 (Conc. £9)

Over the years, singer/songwriter/guitarist Ian Parker has predominantly toured with his four-piece band, delivering a blend of rootsie rock and hi-octane blues. Now, with his current focus firmly on his acoustic driven song-writing, Ian has decided that the time is right to perform a series of concerts in a more stripped down, intimate manner.   The Up Close and Intimate series will feature Ian playing in a variety of formats accompanied by long serving band member, Steve Amadeo, and leading UK slide guitarist, Chris Eaton.

GEOFF ACHISON- £10 (Conc. £9)

Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist Geoff Achison is one of the most outstanding contemporary blues musicians on the world circuit, combining staggering technique with passionate delivery and originality.  The Souldiggers are amongst the best musicians in Europe, including five times Blues Drummer of the Year, Sam Kelly, ‘Spy’ Austin on bass and Paul Jobson on keyboards.. ‘Achison is a major musical talent at the peak of his profession.’ Stoned Free

KING BISCUIT - £9 (Conc. £8)

Blues-funksters par excellence King Biscuit are all professional touring musicians who got together three years ago through a mutual love of the blues. With charismatic singer Adam Binnie on vocals/harmonica and the twin guitars of Pete Friesen and Connor McDonald the band deliver a tasty mix of funky blues and R&B with superb musicianship and a big band sound.

CHARLIE FABERT WITH THE PAUL COX BAND - £9 (Conc. £8)

Charlie Fabert is fast becoming France's Blues Prodigy. With appearances all over Europe with some of the Biggest names on the scene at the moment, Charlie is making his mark on all who see him play.  As both a band leader or sideman he shines and his playing carries a maturity which belies his tender years, 22.  Tonight he combines with the excellent Paul Cox Band.  The show will be split into 2 halves, Charlie on his own with Pauls Band  and then joining Paul to play some of his favoured numbers.   A great night in prospect, don’t miss it.

Tonight award-winning guitarist and Maltings favourite Sonny Black delivers an evening of exquisite blues-based music with influences from world music, jazz and country, together with superb guitarist and singer Arnie Cottrell plus the rock solid bass of Chris Belshaw.  Unmissable!

OLI BROWN BAND - £10 (Conc. £9)
Oli Brown has played guitar since the age of 13 and  is now an acclaimed blues guitarist whose claims to fame include playing in Texas, performing on the Paul Jones show and guesting with Walter Trout.   He’s packing audiences in wherever he goes, so do reserve tickets for this gig!

NEVER THE BRIDE - £10 (Conc. £9)
Phenomenal female-led blues-rock band featuring stunning vocals from Nikki Lamborn and Catherine 'The Been' Feeney on keyboards.    Nikki's powerful presence and strong vocals has been described as Tina Turner and Robert Plant rolled into one, while Been is the main composer behind the songs that together with Nikki's voice, make Never the Bride unique.   Unmissable!

THE PRODUCERS - £10 (Conc. £9)

Bass player Dave Saunders and singer and guitarist Harry Skinner formed The Producers in 1990. They regularly sold out venues around the country and were voted ‘Blues Band of The Year’ four times, releasing 7 acclaimed albums and playing to capacity audiences.  They split up in 2002 to pursue other musical interests, but the good news is that they’re now BACK and sounding better than ever, with some new songs and assisted by Ray Drury on keyboards and Biff Smith on sticks and percussion.  Not to be missed!

ROBIN BIBI BAND - £9 (Conc. £8)

Since forming 10 years ago, the Robin Bibi Band has produced a host of riveting live performances at clubs and festivals at home and abroad.  Robin  is a seasoned professional and one of the best blues guitarists in the UK as well as a fine singer.  Blues, funk, soul and rock, reggae and jazz are all rolled together to form the band’s unique sound.

24 PESOS - £9 (Conc. £8)

24 Pesos was formed by four musicians with a passion for blues, soul, funk and the rhythms of New Orleans.  Not content to simply rehash and imitate, 24 Pesos twist the traditional blues form create their own original twist while being  faithful to their blues roots.  Fronted by Julian Burdock on vocals and guitar and with Moz (ex Marcus Malone Band), and featuring Silas Maitland and Mike Connolly, ex Geno Washington’s Ram Jam Band.  A great band and a big success at their gig at Mill Rythe Blues Weekend in March!

Tommy Allen, Barry Pethers and Craig Bacon are reunited as Trafficker performing some of the old favourites along side some new material.  In the past, this line up has been described as 'awesome' so if you like your blues with a raw energy and some great musicianship, then Trafficker is for you!  This is always a busy night, so be sure to reserve tickets for this gig.
