New Boogaloo Blues & Boogie venue!

Crookham Memorial Hall is a delightful venue, with a smart and spacious hall with integrated stage and lights, comfy seating for up to 130, and a large free car park for up to 60 cars.  There is no licensed bar, but we will have some soft drinks and snacks available for sale (everything £1 or less!), and if you fancy something a bit stronger, you can bring your own drinks!    Please remember to reserve tickets as this helps us plan the gigs, and it means we can get in touch with you if there are any last-minute changes.   Payment is in cash on the door (no cheques or card payments.)   We look forward to seeing you!

Robin Bibi and his band host Boogaloo founder Monica Madgwick‘s Birthday Gig, with lots of special guests, and FREE CAKE.

Guests include larger-than-life personality, guitarist and singer EARL JACKSON, guitarist and singer GARY FLETCHER (ex The Blues Band), singer and guitarist SAM PAINE, guitarist and singer LEONARDO GIULIANI, keyboard player RAY DRURY, and up-and-coming guitarist and singer TOM DAVIES.  

As per tradition, Aquarians with birthdays from 12th to 16th February get FREE ENTRY.  (Proof required.)

High energy Rhythm & Blues played the Canvey Island way, recreating the unmistakable sounds of 1970’s Dr Feelgood.

It’s a high-energy performance of classic Dr Feelgood, recreating the sounds of the original lineup.

The Feelgood Band recently played for us at the sold-out Blues Weekend at The Heathlands and went down a storm.   Great musicianship, great energy, loads of charisma – and a terrific bunch of guys too!  Don’t miss out on this one!

Tom Davies, guitarist/singer-songwriter from Hampshire, is the band leader of Tom Davies & The Bluebirds formed in 2019.

The band is a 3 piece blues rock power trio with Si Davis on bass and Gary Lyons on drums. Si, a seasoned musician has been a bassist performing for over 40 years. Gary who joined the band last year has many years experience at the kit. The band perform across the UK & Ireland.   This year the band will be performing at various venues and festivals, including gigs in Dublin & Belfast. Last year the band returned to Ireland twice to perform with other Irish blues rock bands including Eric Bell from Thin Lizzy, to support the Gary Moore memorial statue fundraiser concert in Belfast and made their debut at The Ballyshannon Rhythm & Blues Festival in Eire. 

The band performs blues & blues rock with a blend of originals & covers. Tom and the Bluebirds have been described as mesmerising with Tom’s instinctive and intuitive guitar solos. His feel for the blues is way beyond his years. Their musical influencers include: Bluesbreakers, BB King, Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore, Robben Ford, JJ Cale and Led Zeppelin to name a few.

Come and enjoy a fabulous night of blues and boogie and rhythm & blues with boogie-woogie player extraordinaire Ben Waters and his all-star band! .   Ben is an acknowledged master of the boogie-woogie piano, and a charismatic performer with a great ‘feel’ for the music.  Ben first performed for Boogaloo at the Maltings over thirty years ago,  Since then, he has gigged and recorded with the Rolling Stones, performed on TV with Jools Holland and recorded countless albums.  Despite his success, Ben remains down to earth and as friendly as ever.

For this special performance, Ben will have Ian Jennings on double bass, Kevin Crowe on drums, himself on piano and vocals and a brass section.

Papa George started his professional career as a guitarist/vocalist playing in clubs and bars in London. During the ‘70s, he formed the Papa George Band.  Since then he has toured the UK and many countries in Europe and the USA.  George was Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame (An American Heritage, International Organization) as a “Master Blues Artist” in 2013 and awarded as a ‘British Blues Great’ in the Blues Awards 2016.

Muddy Waters guitarist, Bob Margolin, described George as being “A powerful Deep Blues player…a spectacular blues artist. He’s got power and nuance as a master entertainer”    George will be joined on stage by superb bass player Pete Stroud and drummer Brendan O’Neill.  A fantastic line-up!

Powerful singer Val Cowell and ace guitarist Richard Hayes lead the band through an intoxicating cocktail of blues/rock, with a super tight rhythm section, including Pete Stroud on bass.

The band has received much critical acclaim for both their original songs and their strong covers of Tom Petty to Bonnie Raitt to Fleetwood Mac etc.
They have appeared on all types of stage and radio and released six CDs. Their latest CD is ‘CAROUSEL’ from which four tracks were recorded for Paul Jones’ Radio 2 Show.

Val has been described as having “a tidal wave of a voice that can take on the mantle of our greatest singers”, while the band’s overall performances receive reports such as.. “Bad Influence always leave their audiences handsomely entertained”.

Bad Influence have definitely paid their ‘dues’ and are now considered by many to be one of the top acts in their field, delivering their sound of powerful vocals alongside classic guitar driven rock solid blues.

Val is without doubt one of the finest female singers on the European blues scene as well as being a great rhythm guitarist.

Damo and the Dominos celebrate the musical legacy of a blues rock legend with an evening of classic Clapton.  The band performs Clapton songs from his early days with Cream, as well as well-known classics such as Cocaine, I Shot The Sheriff, Crossroads, Layla, etc.

Damo and the Dominos are not trying to mimic Clapton but are inspired by his live performances and electrifying solos.

Led by frontman Damian “Damo” Ford, this exceptional group of musicians celebrates the vast musical catalogue of one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Damo, an accomplished guitarist in his own right, has a deep love for Clapton’s guitar playing and musical legacy, and has studied Clapton’s playing since the age of fourteen and Clapton remains one of his biggest inspirations.

The band says  “We can’t wait to play for Boogaloo, and share their love of the amazing music of one of the world’s greatest guitarists and singers.’

Ruthless Blues is a British Blues Rock band originally formed in 1979. Legendary blues
singer and harp player Stevie Smith joined the band in 1985 and is still going strong
